Services

I do not share my client list because my clients and I consider it proprietary. I handle many sensitive issues, so confidentiality is my default position. If you were my client, I’m sure you would agree.

Media Relations:

I have spent more than 40 years establishing and nurturing relationships with print, broadcast and digital media outlets across Indiana. I spent 10 years as a journalist in six Midwestern states, and am in my 10th year as a panelist on a public affairs show that is seen in every Indiana television market. I have a deep respect for what journalists do. I also understand their needs and how my clients’ needs can mesh with journalists’ efforts to inform their publics.

If approached correctly, relationships with reporters need not be adversarial. Quite the opposite. Almost always the relationship can be beneficial to both the media and my clients. You just have to remember we are all humans trying to raise families and get through life. Attend a Little League game or a church service with a reporter, and you will find they are a lot like you. I am the connector you need to get the relationship off to a good start.

Crisis Communications:

Don’t think it will never happen to you. Because it will:

  • The state has revoked the license of a physician in your practice, and now you are being sued.

  • The charter school you direct has been accused of manipulating test scores.

  • The food product you manufacture has sickened or even killed people.

  • An officer on your police force failed to arrest a drunk driver, who later struck and killed someone.

Each of these scenarios is real, and I have helped my clients to navigate the pressure, correct inaccurate information and express the proper level of empathy for those who have suffered, likely through no fault of their own.

In a crisis, you have to think fast, clearly and strategically. By the way, “No comment” is NOT really “No comment.” It is a red flag that you are hiding something and are afraid to provide clarity to your customers, consumers or public.

A crisis doesn’t have to remain a crisis beyond initial awareness of the problem. Artful, honest communication, supported by good media relationships, can turn an unfortunate incident into a reputation builder. I can help you turn bad into better.

Reputation Management:

Reputation management is about so much more than managing a crisis. In fact, if you execute a credible reputation management strategy from the moment you open your company, introduce your product or begin offering your service, your reputation can withstand the worst of circumstances because you are already known for your adherence to the highest professional and ethical standards. Good people and good companies survive bad things and often end up with an enhanced reputation because of how they handle the unpredictable. I can get you started on the right foot and maintain the stellar reputation you deserve.
